Tift Merritt

A few years ago I had the amazing opportunity to work on a packaging project for Tift Merritt. As an expanded edition of Traveling Alone, this box set includes vinyl and cd versions of the music, a lyrical book, and a set of postcards. I was fortunate to work with illustrator Diana Sudyka, whose work is beautiful. Tift wanted the piece to look and feel vintage/worn and to have a sense of restraint, as to reflect qualities from the recording. To simulate ‘vintage’, I went as far as to scan individual letters from vintage books, later piecing them together to form words. The piece was art-directed by Tift, Andrea Troolin and myself. All design, typographic composition and production by me. Illustrations by Diana Sudyka.
